RAD were brought in by the client to advise on what works would require Network Rail approvals and to advise throughout the process from initial contact with NR through to final approvals. As Southampton Airport’s flight path is close to the site, a fixed jib tower crane had to be used, meaning that the collapse zone of the crane was within 4m of the NR property boundary, even though that is on the other side of the adjoining road. We negotiated a deliverables list with Network Rail, then advised the Client and Contractor throughout the process.
